A large area of the Cape Town Foreshore will soon be reimagined as Amdec Group prepare for a redevelopment in the area.

Expected to cost R15-billion, the new development aims to completely change the Foreshore area into one that promotes safety and comfortable living for its residents.

Speaking to Construction Insight Magazine, Amdec Group CEO, James Wilson says the new development will put Cape Town on the map with the likes of New York, Dubai or London.

Cape Town Foreshore to be transformed in billion rand development

Wilson believes the ‘Harbour Arch’ development will become one of Cape Town’s greatest tourist attractions. Part of the project will include infrastructure upgrades to accommodate the Mother City’s 5-million population growth expectancy by 2050.

Once the development is complete, the group aims to set their sights on redeveloping the Culemborg site.

Harbour Arch will link the Foreshore with other areas such as CBD, the V&A Waterfront and later Woodstock.

Walking routes will be created, leading from other areas of the city to the new development and further extending the areas pedestrian conscious layout.

Once completed, the Foreshore’s newest area is expected to create roughly 20 000 jobs as well.
