If a ‘Sunday Funday’ is what you’re looking for, then we’ve got you covered! Spending time in the great outdoors can be really therapeutic – a great way to release tension, ease your mind and set the tone for an amazing week ahead.
Even though life can get really busy between work, family life and everything else that comes with it, don’t forget to put time aside for a relaxing stroll to unwind and recharge. According to healthline, walking can help to burn calories, strengthen your heart, improve your mood and encourage creative thinking.
And the best part is that it’s free! You can choose to walk around your neighbourhood during times when it’s safe to do so, but if you have some extra fuel in the tank to spare, then here are four awesome spots to drive out to on a Sunday for a chilled walk.
Tygerberg Nature Reserve
This popular spot lies in the northern suburbs of Cape Town and boasts stunning views! That amazing moment when exercise meets nature, right? Enjoy the walking paths while observing the different plant species or feast your eyes on the beautiful birds and wildlife.
The view from the top of the reserve’s hill is magnificent so be sure to bring your camera to capture the breathtaking scenery. You may need to carry some cash on you, so have a look at the entrance fee over here.
Sea Point promenade
A Capetonian favourite if ever there was one and it certainly doesn’t need an introduction! This long stretch overlooks the sea to give you the full experience of ultimate tranquillity. With parks, swings and jungle gyms nearby, the kids can have a blast too.
Whether you’re up for a relaxing walk or prefer getting your heart rate up with a cheeky jog, then Sea Point is the place to be!

Adderley Street Company’s Gardens
Situated right in the heart of Cape Town, this majestic gem is an amazing place to walk around, relax and even entertain the kids. The garden has a rich cultural and historical heritage.
There’s just something serene about being surrounded by trees and nature, offering an escape from your busy, everyday life (cute squirrels included!)
Muizenberg to St James
Even though this walk is enjoyed by many, we often don’t have the time to make the trip a reality! This stunning paved shoreline walk will have you wanting to return every weekend!
But don’t feel the need to rush through it. Take some time to soak in the gorgeous views and if your stomach starts complaining, then you can quickly head into one of the eateries and coffee shops in the surrounds.
