In an unassuming building on Bree Street lies one of Cape Town’s most talked about and most expensive burger experiences – Burger & Lobster.
Not so long ago, we asked the Cape {town} Etc family for the best burger spots in Cape Town, because who knows better than locals?

One of the picks on our list was Burger & Lobster. Although I’ve tried some of their Burgers before, I’ve long been curious to try the cream of the crop of their burger menu – the Lobster Roll, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Ashleigh Nefdt.
Before I get stuck into the delicious details of this meal (which goes for R235 a plate) I must sing the honest praises of B&L.
On a packed evening where the entire joint was full to the brim, B&L’s service was still at its peak. Customers were given the option to dine at the bar while they waited for seats instead of being turned away as it is in most ‘we’re too full’ situations in Cape Town, and the bar service was nothing short of excellent, to the point where I was almost disappointed when it was time to move to a table.
The managers are constantly checking that everything is in order, and your wine glass is never empty for long as the waiters move with elegant efficiency.
By the time the Lobster Roll sat in front of me, I savoured the experience not only relating to dining but to the dining excursion.
The food was outstanding, and I am not someone who easily boasts about a meal.
The ‘burger’ or roll is Lobster tail drenched in Japanese mayonnaise that complements it perfectly, as the flavours melt into a New England brioche roll that’s both warm and soft at the crunch. Dip your pieces into the divine cheese sauce and get ready for a tastebud experience like no other. The delicacy is served with fries or salad, and I can confess that every bite is well worth the bucks.
It’s not often that a hyped-up meal actually lives up to the experience, but in Burger & Lobster’s case, the experience exceeded my expectations in every way.
