Brushed with early morning city lights, a pallet of hues and dressed in fog, these photographs will remind you of how beautiful Cape Town is, especially when her head is in the clouds.
Photographer Koos Franken captured the early rising city’s moments gorgeously from Signal Hill.
“Every sunrise and sunset excites means a photographer,” says Koos. “Especially when the skies are filled with clouds or if there is some fog around.”I’m so blessed to live in Cape Town, as it lends itself to exactly that.”
“The fifth photo almost looks like a portal out of a sci-fi movie. My favourite photo of the day,” Koos notes of the above photo.
The early misty morning created the perfect setting. Already prepared camera gear, a travel mug of coffee and a rusk would all be key elements in Koos’ beautiful shots.
“The city lights illuminated the fog. Green, red, blue and lots of other hues. I was very fortunate that morning. There wasn’t just the fog, but the sky had its own display of colours,” says Koos.
“As it got lighter, the blanket of fog got whiter and whiter, until the sun broke through. The show was over,” concludes Koos.
And what a show it was.
