The South African summer festival season closed in superb fashion on the weekend with a sold-out crowd at the Corona Sunsets Festival in Clifton, Cape Town, on Saturday. Masks were out and vibes were in as locals came together for the first time in two years to boogie without any restrictions.

Making its return after a two-year Lockdown hiatus the Sunsets Festival again showed why it has become a highlight of the South African festival calendar. Under a cloudless sky, the festival’s magnificent outdoor stages came with a world-class line-up and spectacular views of the mountains and ocean.
Artists included revered German DJ/producer, Claptone; Grammy nominated English DJ/producer, Elderbrook; and German “super house” DJ Andhim. Iconic South African dance artists included Sun-El Musician & Msaki, who opened with a beautiful acoustic version of their hit, “Ubomi” and played as the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean on a beautiful, late summer Cape Day. Zakes Bantwini’s set of course included his hit “Osama” while other artists included Goodluck, Bantwanas and Gina Jeanz.
Set on The Oval Field adjacent to Clifton 4th beach, the Corona Sunsets Festival also included organic, craft food and art vendors as well as the ‘Village of the Free Spirit’ with a variety of interactive lifestyle experiences.

“This has been an incredible season, especially coming out of lockdown and it showed just how much we find our best selves in the outdoors, with great music, friends, and of course incredible sunsets. While the summer season has ended, we have a series of sunsets hours and sessions planned in winter to look forward to, which we will be announcing soon,” said Melanie Nicholson, Corona SA Marketing Manager.
