Galentine’s Day – one of the most auspicious days in the calendar. A time dedicated to the unofficial celebration of pure, unadulterated friendship.
To some, the 13th of February is a made-up holiday that came about as a result of a Parks and Recreations episode. However, it’s the beautiful meaning that surrounds this special day that we’re really celebrating – the comradery amongst women (and men).
Now, we know what you’re thinking: “it’s the 14th of February, Galentine’s Day has come and gone.”
Yes, but has it really? Similar to Valentine’s Day, every day should be an unbridled celebration of the friendships and love you choose to nurture in your life.
So, if you find yourself unattached this V-Day, grab a couple of girlfriends and your glasses and cheers to the friendships you keep.
Here are a few ways to acknowledge those special in your life:
A night in with a good Rom-Com
A tall glass of wine, a giant bowl of popcorn, a few friends and the mushiest rom-com you can find on Netflix. Someone Great, When we first met … the list goes on!
Game Night
There’s no better way to test the strength of friendship than with a highly competitive game night. Dust off the scrabble board or 30 Seconds, and let the games begin!
Have a sleepover
Okay, stay with us! This may sound a little high school, but there’s nothing better than whipping up a delicious dinner and talking until the early hours with your bestie. Throw in a classic movie, facial masks and a few cocktails, and you have a winner. Just make sure that you set the alarm for work tomorrow.
Put together the perfect party packet
If your love language is giving or receiving gifts, then add then give this one a go. Their favourite delicious treats, gadgets or mini arts and crafts projects they can construct at home are all great ideas for those looking to fill their party packets and put a smile on their friend’s face.
Paint the town red
You’re together and that’s all that matters. Head to your favourite bar in Kloof Street or your favourite restaurant for a mouth-watering bite to eat.
