To celebrate the 10th birthday of The Fugard Theatre, Eric Abraham will be bringing Athol Fugard’s “Master Harold” … and the Boys to the Studio Theatre stage. If you haven’t seen it, now is your chance. Set in Port Elizabeth in 1950, this coming-of-age story explores the friendship between a young white boy and the two adult black men he has grown up around in apartheid South Africa.

4. Swan Lake – St Petersburg Ballet Theatre (Showing at the Artscape from April 8, 2020)

Traditional Russian Ballet set in the heart of the Mother City is a surreal experience. Swan Lake is Tchaikovsky’s magnificent classical ballet show that has graced world’s stages. Having seen the show in 2015 at the Artscape, I can attest to the beauty and sophistication that this elegant and timeless performance showcases. If you are a fan of the ballet, this show simply has to be on your calendar.

5. Three Blind Mice (Showing at Gate69 on Bree Street until February 1, 2020)

The performances at Gate69 breathe new life into the words “dinner and a show.” Currently showing, is Gate69’s adult version of Three Blind Mice: “We’re going to stop you right there. These mice don’t run – they’re wearing heels for heaven’s sake! They’re also seven feet tall and foul mouthed, so you can take that sweet little nursery rhyme and throw it out with the baby’s bath water!” says the website. Full of pizazz, wit and charm, The Trolley Dollies will blow your mind with their spectacular drag performance.
