Stellenbosch is known for its abundance of breathtaking wine estates boasting rolling vineyards and spectacular views. And nestled between the Helderberg Mountains and False Bay lies Vergenoegd Löw, one of the oldest working farms in South Africa.
This amazing wine estate will soon have a new addition to pique the interest of diners. Clara’s Barn is set to open within the first week of March this year and reservations will open soon.
Famed Chef, Bertus Basson, who has a food philosophy rooted in traditional South African food culture, and has reportedly been part of Vergenoegd Löw wine estate since 2019, took to Instagram to make the exciting announcement.
“It’s the most incredible restaurant built in one of the oldest existing barns in South Africa and we are opening up in the first week of March,” he said.
Chef Bertus went on to say that the inspiration for the space is the South African farm kitchen while Chef Drikus Brink, who will be heading the kitchen at Clara’s Barn said that they will be serving “simple, focused South African food in this historic building”.
