New kid on the Silo block, the Radisson RED, is a modern take on living large. It’s the millennial version of what a hotel is suppose to be, it’s funky and retro without being cheesy – and we love it! Located in the most exciting address in Cape Town right now, Rad Red has the feel of a ‘no-rules’ hotel and hey you can bring your dog too – maybe there really are no rules.

Standing tall and sexy beside the Silo Hotel, it’s hard to miss it – and you wouldn’t want to. Easy-going, vibey and art-filled spaces, the decor in unlike any other hotel. Once checked in, we made our way to our studio room on the 6th floor. Bright red and white graphics cover the wall behind the king-sized bed, with an ideally sized table for two with coffee and treats.

Plenty of cupboard and drawer space makes a longer stay effortless and comfortable stay. The en-suite bathrooms are spacious and modern, with water-saving notices on the shower door to remind guests to conserve water in the thick of Cape Town’s drought – and that might be the only rule you have to follow. The needs of my millennial life are catered for too, there is WiFi, TV,  and a charger within reaching distance and a bed to soothe my carpel tunnel syndrome.

Meandering through the hotel, you feel like a kid in a candy store. There are bright pops of colour everywhere. Make your way up to the eccentric rooftop bar – this is a space made to play. It offers views second to none of the city, the mountain and the sea. Once you are done Instagramming your day away, quench your thirst at the bar – serving up some seriously lit cocktails. An ode to Cape Town’s most famous food scene, they’ve put a food truck on the rooftop, the food’s great too.

The rooftop will be hosting an epic New Year’s Eve party with Roger Goode on the 31st of December – check out more details over here.

A relaxed night’s sleep deserves the breakfasts Breakfast at the OUIBar + KTCHN was a ‘build a breakfast’ concept. From fresh fruits, warm toasted breads, creamy nut butters and scrambled eggs to fresh-out-the-oven muffins and pastries, the stylish kitchen bar has it all. The dining area is filled with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows.

Stylish, convenient and creative are the first three words that come to mind when thinking about Radisson RED. The prime location and simple yet ‘out-there’ design makes the RED hotel the ultimate one night to week long stay – whatever your needs. A walk around the Silo district is encouraged, pop in to the Zietz Mocca Museum of Contemporary Art or sit by the towering Moet and Chandon Christmas Tree, there is something for everyone to do this silly season.
