Legend has it that Frank has visited every pub and restaurant in the country on his quest. The search for adventure and culinary perfection kept him on the move; making friends and breaking hearts on the way, he kept travelling, a timeless seeker of inspiration and truth. With the heart of a poet and the skills of a ranch hand, he carries himself like a latter day warrior – never looking for trouble, but always ready to handle it.
Then, on an eventful day trekking in the Cape, the perfect spot suggested itself. Frank dropped his pack, took out his tools and created a place he could call home; his workshop, his museum, his space to create. With deft hands, a sign was carved and hung above the door. It said, simply, ‘Frank’s’, and Frank’s was where it all happened. Great food, cold drinks, great chats, many memories.
One night, after a perfect meal and a few iced drinks to add zest, a friend took out a small brush and tin of paint and surreptitiously added a single word above Frank’s wooden sign.
The word was: ‘Fancy’, and the legend of the origin of Fancy Frank’s was fully formed.
Frank’s food and cooking:
Legend has it that Frank is always at Fancy Frank’s Diner, although he is never seen. But you’ll know Frank is around. An occasional whiff of well-polished leather with the subtle tang of hot engine oil signals his presence.
A critical eye is focussed on everything that happens, every meal that is served, every drink that is handed to thirsty guests. Frank’s nose can pick out a fillet steak from a pile of T-bones; his knowledge of spices and condiments is unrivalled.
When he test-tastes the grilled masterpieces that are produced by his ranch hands, he can tell to the second how low and slow the meat was seared, he can identify every grain of salt and every spice. Renowned as the ultimate braai master, his pizzas and smoked meats are the talk of the rodeos and at the gatherings of the iron horses.
Something delicious every day:
Frank knows that diversity is at the heart of good eating, and his eating habits reflect this belief. On Monday he might tuck into a perfectly cooked Fancy Frank’s burger with all the trimmings; Tuesday a delicious helping of Mucho Tacos is enjoyed. Wednesday will be rounded off by an artisanal pizza, baked to perfection by Morrison, and Thursday a steak, grilled exactly right. Frank knows that nothing but the best will do for his guests.

Frank’s hospitality and spirit is reflected in the range of options in the well-stacked Fancy Frank’s bar, and the specials on offer are always there to set the mood.
Fancy Frank’s Helpmekaar Happy Hour:

Stories told at the bar:
Frank is known for his memorising tales. With a whisper and a sip, he’ll lure in listeners from across the town.
