#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.
Seafood lovers, unite! We’re off to our favourite spot to indulge in some fin-tastic meals. We just can’t kelp ourselves. Don’t be shellfish, bring the whole family. There’s something to suit every taste.
Ocean Basket’s brand new winter menu offers the perfect warm winter meal with a focus on SA’s firm favourite: Kingklip.
Kingklip (which translates from old Dutch as “king of the rock fishes”) is low in fat, high in protein and prized for its delicate meaty flavour and firm white flesh. What better way to enjoy this delicacy than as a warming Kingklip soup with an onion and lemon flavour base, enhanced by a roasted tomato bomb and topped with crispy onion sprinkles.
If you love soup, you’ll return to try the smoked mussel soup. Mussels have the most impressive nutritional profile of all shellfish and are perfectly paired with creamy onion, lemon and herbs in this bowl of goodness.
The smoked mussel bowl offers plump mussels mixed with fresh med salsa as a meze to share or enjoy on its own. But this is all just a prelude to the Pick of the Season Kingklip feast that follows:
Kingklip Bites – Kingklip cut into bite sizes batter and spicy-crumb dipped, crispy fried, served with a tangy roasted-tomato mayo;
Royal Kingklip with smoked mussels – grilled Kingklip covered with a creamy sauce and herb bomb and topped with smoked mussels;
Royal Kingklip with prawns – grilled kingklip smothered in a creamy roasted tomato sauce and topped with grilled prawns;
Crusted Kingklip – grilled Kingklip topped with spicy crumbs and served with a creamy roasted tomato sauce.
And finally, there is the chance to indulge in our new sharing dessert platter filled with all our new dessert offerings. This way you don’t have to choose between your favourites.
Now, if these fresh new dishes haven’t got you rushing out the door yet, nothing will. Sea you there!
