A new addition to the popular exercise location in Sea Point aims to aid in social distancing and guide residents during their morning jog or walk.

Following the announcement that South Africans could finally resume exercising outdoors during a dedicated exercise window under Level 4 restrictions, Sea Point Promenade was filled with joggers, walkers and pet-owners.

Recently, residents were greeted by white arrows spray painted along the Promenade as they ventured out to exercise.

The arrows show walkers and joggers to “walk left” and “pass right”, ensuring there is a better flow of morning traffic and a more visible guideline for residents.

Locals seem impressed by these new guidelines.

“Spotted these new arrows on the Promenade this morning!! Love them, please spread the word. #WalkLeft #PassRight,” said resident Laura Jane Pitman on the Sea Point Community Facebook group.

With Cape Town being one of the most health conscious and exercise-keen cities in South Africa, the addition of more arrows in other busy areas would surely be welcomed.

For now, Sea Point residents are encouraged to make use of the arrow directions when they take to the Promenade.
