The best part about living in the Mother City is that there’s always a new adventure waiting around every corner, and with spring heading our way, there’s no better time to explore the exciting events around town.
As a self-proclaimed dog-mom, I can’t begin to describe my excitement upon hearing that Simon’s at Groot Constantia is hosting an awesome DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group) Pop-Up event where our furry pals are the stars of the show writes Cape {town} Etc’s Micayla Vellai.
DARG is a pro-life, non-profit organisation that rescues, cares for, sterilises and rehomes previously abused, neglected and abandoned cats and dogs. It also provides a crucial role for the communities of Imizamo Yethu, Hangberg and the greater Hout Bay area. This not-to-be-missed Pop-Up event will help to raise funds for the Domestic Animal Rescue Group.
You can expect live music, wine tasting, the luxury of browsing for second-hand books, delicious delicacies by the Simon’s team, locally-made homeware and pantry items, handcrafted pet accessories, dog behavioural demonstrations, food truck snacks, a buzzing bar, fun with family and all things fluffy and furry!
My dogs have been throwing subtle hints for a new bed, most noticeably by ripping their current one to shreds, so it’s the cherry on top that over 20 vendors will be selling pet accessories, beds, toys and treats. But no need to worry, because there’s something for the humans too. If you are a book worm as I am, then you’ll enjoy rummaging through the second-hand book pile for a hidden gem that’s waiting to be read.
Situated on a large plot in Hout Bay, Western Cape, DARG provides shelter for its rescues through housing an extensive cat garden, cat sanctuary, outdoor and indoor kennel areas as well as indoor rooms for those animals in treatment or rehabilitation. DARG relies on the public’s generosity and support through donations.
Join in on all the fun while supporting a good cause by visiting the DARG weekend market among the vineyards at Simon’s at Groot Constantia!
