The Cape of Good Hope (CoGH) SPCA’s Chief Vet is doing all he can to raise funds for a bone plating kit – even risking his own life to do so.

“Our very own Chief Veterinarian Dr Mark Middleton, whose heart is as brave as it is kind, wants a bone plating kit so badly that he’s putting his own life and limb on the line to make sure he gets one!” the SPCA said.

To raise funds for the much-needed bone plating kit that will assist the SPCA in helping more animals in need, Middleton plans to abseil off Table Mountain.

“I am the Chief Veterinarian at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. Every day, I help at least one animal in need of orthopedic surgery. I know the difference this plating kit will make to the animals I see and so I am prepared to risk my life and limb in order to save theirs. Will you help me?” writes Middleton on his funding page.

What lies ahead of Middleton is no small feat.

“He will be stepping off the top of Table Mountain at 1000 metres above sea level, and abseiling into a mind-blowing vertical space to help raise the funds needed to buy a bone plating kit so that he can save the life and limb of every orthopedic patient he sees.”
