Cape Town has been voted, by the international readers of Condé Nast Traveller, as the ninth best city in the world.
“Cities, like dreams, are made of desires and fears, reckoned Italo Calvino; but the best have pretty decent architecture, a buzzing food scene and smart places to stay too,” Condé Nast Traveller stated in its citation.
A relevant outlook considering The Mother City’s bullet-ridden week. But in keeping spirits high, or at least hopeful, the recognition is a welcome scoop of good news – and a wonderful reminder that our city really is up there with the best of the best.
Cape Town received a score of 88.27%, with our pristine beaches, incredible art galleries and world-class restaurants all being celebrated. Of course, there was mention of Table Mountain and wine farms too.
San Miguel de Allende in Mexico is the 2022 winner.
