This summer we have had a few days of cooler weather and even welcoming drizzling rain offering some relief. However, our sunny summer is still dominated by extreme heat, and not everyone feels like heading to the beach.

Fortunately, the busy beaches are not your only option. You can plan an escape to the Cape Winelands District.

The Cape Winelands’ destinations are only a 30 to 120-minute drive from Cape Town or the airport and always welcomes you and yours to our incredible spaces. We have somewhere that is suited to your needs, whether its for a family day out or for those whose wish to stay a while.

Take a hike and find a lovely water stream or waterfall in the amazing Langeberg Mountains, or if you are staying for a while to camp at Doringlaagte. At this well-kept secret you can enjoy cooling off in the dam and other water leisure activities, such as fishing and canoeing or paddle boats to cool off.

For those who find pleasure in the drive as much as they do in their destination, Klondyke Cherry Farm is a necessity. Situated 30km from the town of Ceres in the Koue Bokkeveld, you can find Klondyke Cherry Farm. The venue offers you the opportunity to stay in one of their self-catering cottages or camping in the shady and easy-style campsite.

Closer to the city is the beauty of Bainskloof Pass on the R303 just outside Wellington which is a wonderful place to spend a day hiking and swimming. The clear, cool water in the many pools is a great place to refresh after a hot day or a hike through the mountains.

The often forgotten gem of the Bergriver Resort, outside Franschhoek, is the perfect place to be on a sunny day, offering an Olympic sized swimming pool with a number of activities. On the R44 just off the N1 Wiesenhof Water park, offering water adventure for all ages.
