Tokara, the vineyard and olive estate, is opening its farm garden and new Adamastor Moss Garden to the public. The opening will be a part of Garden Town Stellenbosch, a flower festival-inspired event, from 21 to 30 October this year.
The farm’s garden will be open for self-guided tours between 9am-4pm, and provides a space in which to take tranquil walks amongst sculptures made by local artists. The R50 entry fee is per car and is payable at the farm gate.

The new Adamastor Moss Garden is an indigenous garden, and a breathtaking experience of scents and textures, including the cork oak forest and fresh spring flowers coming in from the terraces of the picking garden.
The Adamastor Moss Garden is available for booked guided tours in which you can see firsthand how sandstone and granite from the local Cape region can be blended with indigenous mosses and fynbos to recreate the ambience of a classical Japanese garden.
The tour is half an hour, and is led by Gert van Tonder, the creator of the moss garden. The tour discusses Japanese landscape design, the ecology of the Cape Fold Mountains and the construction process through which the moss garden is taking shape.
