Norse’s introduction of the route takes advantage of South African Airways‘ absence in the UK, replacing the seasonal capacity previously provided by Thomas Cook Airlines. Currently, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly to Cape Town from Heathrow.
Return tickets range from £430 (R11 800) in Economy to £1199 (R28 500) in Norse Premium class.
Shortly after the announcement, Bjorn Tore Larsen, Norse chief executive and founder, said: ‘We are thrilled to introduce our new route between London and Cape Town. By breaking the duopoly on this route, we are not only expanding travel options for consumers but also driving down costs and putting the customer back in the pilot’s seat.’
