There’s nothing we love more than seeing animals spread their wings and fly off to freedom… well, in this case, waddle.
The Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre had a reason to celebrate over the weekend as four rescued African Penguins were released back into the wild.
Elvis Blue, Greenie, Redman and Runner gave onlookers something to cheer about as they set their sights on the big blue ocean after months of being nursed back to health due to various ailments.
Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is considered one of the biggest active rehabilitation centres in the Western Cape and is said to care for around 230 to 300 birds.
The penguin freedom walk has become a regular event for the public as the Nature’s Valley Trust invites animal lovers from far and wide to share in the happy moment.
The recent event took place on Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay with hundreds of locals and tourists enjoying this heartwarming event.
