We’re in no shortage of beautiful sunsets in Cape Town. Even if you aren’t in the Mother City to witness our breathtaking views featuring the sky’s pallet of colours, social media will almost always ensure that you get your fix of a Cape Town sunset
However, sometimes there are a few technical difficulties when it comes to capturing a sunset. An angry seagull squawking violently if you’re closer to the coast, or maybe a gust of wind making your camera work rocky if you’re in the windier parts of the cape.
For one sunset lover, there was a slightly different interruption to a beautiful sunset – one that everyone in South Africa can relate to if they use electricity.
TikTok user @brucexgal was filming the sunset in Cape Town when loadshedding decided to steal the show, leaving watchers with a unified “yoh”.
In the video the power cut steals all the visible lights from homes, creating an epic and humourous sunset session.
The video has gone viral receiving thousands of views and saves.
One user even commented, “I was expecting the sun to turn off too.”
Another jokingly added that “every day is Earth Day in South Africa.”
The user confessed that the plan wasn’t even to capture loadshedding in action, but rather that she was just filming the sunset when she caught the moment the city went dark on camera.
