Residents in the Klein Karoo have their work cut out for them when it comes to saving water amid an extended drought that has pushed the community to its limits. Recent rains that drenched the area over the weekend were welcomed with open arms as they replenished the land.

Locals embraced the weather, heading outside to celebrate the special occasion with some areas receiving as much 48mm of downpour.

Almost instantaneously, dry dusty dirt roads were transformed into gushing downhill currents as the once bone-dry landscapes were blessed by the rains.

Those who ventured outdoors found themselves walking through flooded roads with a number of rainwater pools accumulating around them.
