The Mother City is expecting one scorcher of a weekend as the first week of spring ushers in warmer temperatures and chases away the cold and windy weather of late. Capetonians should prepare themselves for some seriously contrasting weather that will make its way to the city this weekend.

After a cool Wednesday and Thursday, Friday will start off the warm weekend trend with highs of 21°C and lows of 11°C.

Saturday will be the hottest day of the week coming in with highs of 27°C and lows of 15°C with some inland areas possibly experiencing even warmer temperatures.

Sunday will cap off the week with highs of 25°C and lows of 14°C, leading into a warm Monday.

Ahead of the warmer weather Cape Town’s dam levels experienced a slight increase this week.

As of September 2, overall water storage is at 81.9% with Steenbras Lower at 102.1% and Berg River dipping slightly to 99.3%.

So make sure you bring along some sunscreen for your weekend activities and throw in some sunglasses and a hat for extra sun protection.
