The was no better way to celebrate Christmas Day than with the pouring rains throughout the province. While some outdoor plans were thwarted due to the showers, most Capetonians welcomed the downpours that intermittently fell throughout the day and night.

The rainfall hasn’t stopped yet and more has been predicted for today and throughout the week.

According to Weather.com, rainfalls for today will continue into midday and cloudy weather is expected for the rest of the week.

The South African Weather Service has issued gale-force wind warnings for the Stillbaai, Agulhas and Mossel Bay areas. Wind speeds are expected to reached between 65-70km per hour in these areas.

The National Sea Rescue Institute are also appealing to bathers, paddlers and boaters to heed the SA Weather Service alert and be cautious particularly in light of the peak of the New Moon Spring Tide, peaking on December 26. This will affect the coastline and dissipate between now and New Years day, returning to normal tides by around New Years day.
