After a sweltering weekend the Mother City will soon receive some much-needed relief. Rainy weather is expected to reach Cape Town this Wednesday and Thursday.

The weekend’s hot weather will continue into the new week, with Monday bringing highs of 22°C  and lows of 13°C.Tuesday will bring the same temperatures as Monday.

Locals will enjoy rainy weather from Wednesday where temperatures will dip to highs of 19°C and lows of 12°C. Thursday will continue the trend of relief with even cooler temperatures, with a high of 16°C and a low of 11°C paired with scattered showers.

There is no rain expected for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Ahead of the predicted rainfall, Cape Town’s dam levels are still looking good, with an overall 82% storage as of September 6, 2019.

As the temperatures in the Western Cape increase ahead of summer, there are concerns that the levels will drop dramatically.

By keeping our water consumption down and saving as much of this precious resource as possible, the dams will hopefully stay at a substantial storage level.
