Locals received some much-needed, and unexpected, relief from the heat this past week, and thankfully more showers are on the cards for Monday.

Capetonians can expected cooler temperatures after this hot weekend, with lows of 16°C and highs of 21°C.

There is a 70% chance of scattered showers followed by two days of warmer weather on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rain is always welcome in the city, not only for cooler temperatures but also in the hopes that they might bolster the dams levels, if only by a little.

As of March 1, overall dam storage is at a low of 53.8% with Theewaterskloof Dam dipping below 50% at 41.6% and Steenbras Lower following close behind at 52.5%.

Cloudy weather is expected for the rest of the week with forecasts predicted highs of 23°C and lows of 16°C from Thursday till the end of the week.
