Locals are in for a rainy weekend in the Mother City as weather forecasts predict both Friday and Saturday will bring scattered showers, along with cooler temperatures.

According to The Weather Channel, Cape Town can expect a particularly hot Thursday with a high of 28°C and a low of 15°C before the downpours set in. Overcast conditions are also expected throughout the day.

Friday will bring scattered showers as residents prepare for the weekend, a high of 18°C and a low of 13°C are on the cards for the last day of the workweek.

Saturday will bring slightly cooler weather with highs of 16°C and lows of 12°C. Showers are expected to soak the Mother City for most of the day.

There is a chance that there will also be rain late Thursday evening but forecasts have been fluctuating.

Luckily for locals looking for their next opportunity to take to the beach, next week will offer hot temperatures with Wednesday hitting a 25°C and Thursday hitting 27°C.

As of September 17, 2019 Cape Town’s dam levels are at a bountiful 81.7%.

The Berg River, Steenbras Lower and Wemmershoek are all over 90% full with the lowest dam supplying the city at 72.1%.

Ahead of the rainy weekend locals have their fingers crossed that dam levels will see a significant increase.
