Paulo Coelho once mused: “Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.”
In terms of the cup of generosity, Nederburg Wines’ is overflowing in abundance. The Western Cape’s wine gem has recently put together close to R1 million in an initiative that strives to encourage locals to get back to their favourite, or soon-to-be favourite restaurants. These restaurants are part of Nederburg’s licenced eateries, and the endeavour is an initiative searching to get the restaurant industry back on its feet.
At the heart of the initiative? The hands who pour and sell their wine.
Essentially the Taste of South Africa campaign is seeing Nederbrg give away not merlot’s or pinotages, but R600 000 in vouchers via selected retailers.
Every wait staff member selling Nederburg wines at the select restaurants over the time-lapse of August and September will be entitled to a cash incentive, and if that isn’t a good enough reason to enter (alongside potentially winning a voucher) then we don’t know what is!
“Restaurants have been amongst the hardest-hit sectors in the pandemic,” says marketing manager Jackie Olivier. “We hope this campaign will bring people back to dining out again. Restaurants, service staff and the public all need an incentive to get the momentum going.”
Another thing to clink your glasses in celebration of? Nederburg is giving away R200 000 in wine and prizes, via its socials for the two-month duration.
These vouchers can be redeemed at participating establishments.
To potentially win, take a peek at which restaurants and retailers are featured. You can check out the Nedeburg website here:
Once you see the retailers and restaurants on the list, pay them a visit, and while there, scan the QR code of your favourite Nederburg wine on offer to find out on the spot if you’re a winner or not. Every purchase, followed by the QR scan, gives you another chance to try.
You can also keep up with their giveaways as part of the #TASTEOFSA campaign on their socials:
