Fjällräven, the Swedish heritage outdoor brand known for producing high-quality outerwear, apparel and gear since 1960, has recently launched in South Africa with a new flagship store at the Victoria and Alfred (V&A) Waterfront in Cape Town.
Fjällräven is a global outdoor brand with a rich heritage and renowned reputation for producing quality products for camping, hiking and trekking adventure. Fjällräven has, since its inception, been committed to designing functional, sustainable and timeless equipment that makes the outdoors more enjoyable.
The brand is loved internationally and famous for its iconic backpack, the Fjällräven Kånken, also known as the world’s best-selling backpack. The Kånken backpack was first created in 1978 to help prevent back problems that were emerging among Swedish school children. Since then, the Kånken backpack has just increased in popularity and is now used by children and adults all over the world.
Besides the Fjällräven Kånken, the South African store offers daypacks for hiking and everyday use, men and women’s jackets, trousers, T shirts, and other clothing made for everyday wear, travelling and the outdoors.
An exciting product is the Fjällräven Re-Kånken, which is a special edition of Kånken backpack, made of polyester recycled from eleven plastic bottles and coloured, using the more sustainable SpinDye® dying technique that radically reduces the amount of water, energy and chemicals used.
