The Mountain Spirit Retreat is a three-day nature getaway and a chance to reset, recharge and hopefully begin to embrace new awareness and habits. You’ll be able to escape from the ordinary and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Bainskloof in a way that is beneficial to you, and the environment. I would add that all great experiences are often underpinned by great food – this is one of those, writes Cape {town} Etc’s James Redman.
Lindy Taverner, founder of Re Wild Food, is the host of the retreat. Lindy provides nutritious and progressive food, incorporating edible seaweeds, wild plants and organic produce. The meals Lindy incorporates into the menu are sustainable, traceable, organic and low impact.
What to expect:
- Early morning rock. pool swims
- Yoga and meditation with a view of the ocean
- Nature walks and waterfall hikes
- Delicious plant-based meals
The activities have been decisively put together for reasons beyond entertainment and pleasure.
Hiking supports health, keeps you balanced, connects you with nature and ensures that you stay present. Ma’ayan, the owner of the McBains accommodation, will be facilitating the hikes and leading more advanced trails down the ravine.
The nature walks, led by Stephanie de Witte, focus on more sustainable and planet positive living.
Cold water therapy boosts the immune system, improves circulation, deepens sleep, boosts energy levels, reduces inflammation, improves metabolic function and improves our mood!
Yoga and meditation are lead by Elaine Hackner. Elaine qualified as a yoga teacher at Ananda Kutir in Cape Town in 1991 and completed three years of remedial training. Her practice coordinates posture (asana) and breathing (pranayama). The focus will be on renewal, restoration and connection – giving priority to the special needs of each individual.
