Members attached to Operation Restore received information regarding a shooting incident in Warwick Crescent, Eersterivier and after arriving at the address, ‘spotted four suspicious looking men’ sitting under a tree.
A thorough search was subsequently conducted by the members of the suspects and a .38 Special revolver with ammunition inside a blue Cremora box was found.
All four male suspects, aged between 20 and 35, were arrested on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Once charged, they will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court.

In an unrelated matter, members attached to the Anti-Economical and Extortion Task Team joined forces with Crime Intelligence in the Mfuleni area and conducted stop-and-searches at Bosasa Temporals on Sunday.
At about 2:30pm, a taxi was pulled over and the suspect, who was the owner of the taxi, was found to be in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
After the 41-year-old man was taken to his residence, two more firearms were recovered, along with several magazines, 136 rounds of ammunition, and three cellphones.
The suspect was detained and all potential evidence was booked in for safekeeping after he failed to provide a valid license for the possession of the firearms and ammunition.
Upon further investigation and after the suspect was profiled, it was discovered that he was wanted on a case with ‘three counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder’, which was registered at Delft SAPS in May 2024.
The suspect will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
