A Cape Town-born digital art platform is turning neighbourhood cafés into unlikely gallery walls.
Artsifi, launched in April 2026, allows artists to upload their work to be displayed on digital canvases in participating venues.

Visitors can scan a QR code to learn about the artist and make direct contact. The platform grew from a personal moment: founder Brett Lancaster watched his wife, artist Kim Lancaster, display her work during First Thursday in 2023 and saw how much depended on circumstance and access.

‘Artsifi is not trying to replace galleries or sell work on behalf of artists,’ Lancaster says. ‘It is another plug point for exposure. A lot of great work is finished, placed in a corner and never seen. With Artsifi, an artist can upload a piece and have it shown in a real space where people are already sitting, talking, drinking coffee and taking in their surroundings.’
Since launching, the platform has grown to 348 uploaded artworks, with 90 pieces currently on display across 44 local artists. Participating venues include Stellski Coffee Bar & Café in Woodstock and the city centre, Wisbeach in Sea Point, and Novaccino in Woodstock.
