Following the success of their Johannesburg and Cape Town galleries, Abe Opperman Art has opened its third space in the heart of Franschhoek at 11 Huguenot Street.
“The opportunity to make Franschhoek a new home for Abe’s art presented itself organically and we were all to willing to step into the beauty of the valley,” says Ben Theron, curator of the galleries.
Despite its proximity to Cape Town, the new location will provide an alternative cultural context as well as expand the audience for Abe Opperman’s original works.
Following a successful career in floristry and interior design, Abe has established himself as a commercial artist exhibiting in Johannesburg and opening Cape Town galleries from 2016.
“I am immeasurably grateful and inspired by our presence in Franschhoek, we are in good company amongst the vineyards and mountains,” says Abe, who grew up on an idyllic farm with a beautiful typical English garden surrounded by towering trees and majestic mountain ranges.
The whimsical interpretations of the world he observes through the eyes of his inner child are on display in the new Franschhoek location now.
