With the chilly winter upon us, Somerset West wine estates are offering delectable food and wine specials to help with the freezing weather.
Among these Somerset West wine estates are the Erinvale Hotel & Spa and Erinvale Golf Estate, Lourensford, Morgenster and Vergelegen, which are all members of the Heart of the Helderberg collective.
Through collaboration, the collective aims to raise awareness of the exceptional wines, cuisine and experiences that are available in the area, which is less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town.

Vergelegen Wine Estate
At Vergelegen Wine Estate, you can enjoy a baked Camembert, which is topped with roasted nuts and drizzled with estate honey.
This treat is paired with two glasses of the estate’s DNA red wine. In addition, you can enjoy what the wine-tasting room has to offer from Mondays to Sundays.
The offer is valid until the end of July, at R195 per couple. Bookings are essential for groups of six or more.

Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa
Enjoy winter soups paired with fine wine, where you can choose from two classic soups.
One option is the roasted tomato soup with whipped feta, chives and basil, served with a toasted Camembert roll for R85. Alternatively, you can choose the pork belly broth with broccoli, mushrooms, bok choy, noodles and a boiled egg for R145.

Lourensford Wine Estate
At Lourensford Wine Estate, you can enjoy a variety of soups paired with limited-release wines.

- Biltong soup paired with limited-release shiraz, mourvedre and viognier (SMV)
- Butternut soup paired with the estate’s delicious honey liqueur

Morgenster Estate
An Italian-style platter for two is a must at Morgenster Estate, where the platter features a selection of Italian cheeses and charcuterie, plus seasonal soup, served with focaccia.
The platter is available in the tasting room from Monday to Sunday, between 9am to 5pm.

Erinvale Country and Golf Estate
With a soup selection that changes weekly at the Erinvale Country and Golf Estate, you can enjoy a delicious soup paired with a glass of wine from one of the Heart of the Helderberg wine estates.
