Cape Town’s charming anti-litter mascot, Bingo, is on the move, and his latest stop was the Delft Library on Friday, 6 October.
Alderman Grant Twigg, Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, joined Bingo to spread an essential message.
The children of Delft are now better informed about waste management, thanks to a day of educational fun with the City’s Public Education and Awareness Team and the lovable anti-litter mascot, Bingo. This event was a part of the Delft Library’s holiday programme for kids.
As an integral aspect of the #SpringCleanCT campaign, Bingo and the team are maintaining their focus on the dangers of littering and illegal dumping, as well as the significance of recycling to reduce waste. This led them to eagerly participate in the holiday programme and engage with the kids.
Alderman Twigg expressed his delight in witnessing the youngsters’ enthusiasm for keeping their city clean and embracing recycling.
He noted that even at a young age, these children intuitively understood the importance of preventing litter and reducing waste.

He emphasised that many residents seemed to have lost sight of this reality and interventions like this could rekindle that understanding. By working together, we can create cleaner and more positive spaces for future generations.
The #SpringCleanCT campaign’s primary objective is to mobilise residents against littering and illegal dumping. This can be achieved by organising community clean-ups or reporting offenders. There is even a cash reward incentive for information leading to the conviction of an offender.
To report illegal dumping, you can use the City’s 24-hour toll-free number (0800 110077). If your tip-off leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a reward. Additionally, share your community’s #SpringCleanCT efforts on social media.

To notify the City about dumping that needs to be cleared, call 0860 103 089.
