According to News24 the scheme funding outcomes are now available on the myNSFAS portal so students can check their status and make plans for study, housing and travel.
The scheme reported that it processed all 2026 applications before the start of the academic year, meeting its commitment to conclude decisions by the end of December 2025.
‘NSFAS is pleased to confirm that all 2026 funding applications were processed prior to the start of the academic year, in line with our commitment,’ said NSFAS (Voice of the Cape).
NSFAS broke down the outcomes for new-entrant applicants: roughly 609403 were approved, 218043 were listed as incomplete because of missing documents and 49538 were rejected.
Applicants have 30 days from the date of notification to submit missing documents or to lodge an appeal with supporting evidence.
The confirmation will ease immediate pressures for many students who now plan registration and accommodation. NSFAS urged applicants to monitor the portal and upload any outstanding parental consent or proof of acceptance to secure their funding.
