Moody weather changes happen often enough that we’ve essentially become quite accustomed to it. Yesterday the sun was out. Today, it’s a wet day in the Mother City – just in time for the long weekend.
Fret not for there’s still an array of fun ways to enjoy time with family indoors. With all of the busyness and overwhelm that takes place during the course of the week, let this time be about recuperation and quality time with those dearest to us.

So to help you make the most of the day, we’re sharing five fun indoor activities that will keep you and your little ones entertained, without having to leave the house:
Bring the Outdoors In
A timeless activity that will have your inner child resurfacing alongside the kids, and a thrilling adventure that your little ones are sure to enjoy.
Whether it’s forts made of pop-up tents, blankets and pillows or an old curtain or two, it’s a great way to sharpen your construction skills while building precious memories too.
Cover the windows, turn off the lights, have fun with torches and throw in some microwave s’mores to create the perfect outdoor camping vibe (minus the mud and mosquitoes), right in the comfort and warmth of your home.
Fun with Baking
Baking is an excellent opportunity for your kids to express themselves creatively in the kitchen. It’s also a delicious bonus for your own sweet tooth too.
Grab your aprons, tools and ingredients to make desserts of all sorts. Let the little ones’ imaginations run wild as you allow them to add their own bells and whistles (we’re talking plenty of toppings) to the sweet creation.
Get ready to Karaoke
Does it matter if they can sing? Not really, but hosting a day filled with singing and hit songs is a surefire way to keep your kids busy. No need to buy a karaoke machine, grab a plastic mic and your favourite kid-friendly playlist and get ready to start belting the tunes!
Start Puzzling
What did our great-grandparents do without a smartphone and television? We’re pretty sure it was this. Completing a puzzle is a great way for your kids to get off their phones and get the little wheels in their brains turning. It’s also a fun way for the entire family to get involved, with studies showing that this can help improve collaboration and cooperation skills.
Break out the Board Games
It’s the oldest trick in the book, but it’s almost always a pretty fail-proof idea to get yourself and your little ones away from the screens and hooked onto some good old-fashioned friendly competitive spirit. Bust out some Uno cards, Jenga, or Monopoly and find yourselves entertained for a good few hours.
