Evan Peters (35) is trending and rightly so – he is the man who has managed to send chills down everyone’s spine who watched the Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Netflix.

In the limited series inspired by actual events detailing the life of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, Peters elevated his mastery of horror performance.
We are talking about next-level performance from his 2021 performance in American Horror Story.
It would have been challenging to play the role of a killer that murdered 17 men and boys (mostly of colour) even for the most talented of actors.
In order to prepare for the role Peters had to watch Dahmer’s YouTube interviews to get a sense of the man’s psyche, Peters revealed to You Magazine.

Peters has said that the role has been his most significant career challenge. He told Netflix that the film director Ryan Murphy warned him beforehand that the role would not be easy.
“Murphy sent me the scripts and then called and said, ‘Dahmer is interesting in that he is almost regretful and has guilt and sort of confusion about what went on.”
That is exactly what Peters delivered as he portrayed the killer cannibal which made Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story claim one spot on the streaming service here in South Africa and other countries since its release in September.
The series is definitely thought-provoking; in the end, you will have more questions than answers.
- What was Dahmer’s motive behind the serial kidnappings, druggings and killings of gay men?
- How many of his victims did he eat and why?
- What made him this way?
- Did he continue killing because it was enjoyable and was it easy to trick the police as they listened to him over his neighbours?
The series is based on Dahmer’s neighbours’ and family’s points of view which is brilliant.
We are not surprised that Peters has been nominated for the Best Actor Emmy.
It is through his work that we got a sense of what the victims went through and watch what the neighbours and the victims’ families went through during the time Dahmer was on a rampant killing spree – 1978 and 1991.
In the next role Peters plays, we would want to see him smiling a lot #justsaying!
