Music captures the soul, yes? We here at Cape {town} Etc are of this notion together with popular international and local artists that have chosen the Mother City as the spot to shoot their hit music.
WATCH: travel back in time with our video selection from Cape Town:
The local electronic music band GoodLuck and the “provider of joy” De Hofnar do not disappoint in ‘Back In The Day’. The video serves both establishing shots and closeup shots of Cape Town that evoke only feel-good chills.
Having issues with BAE? It’s not the end of the road. Listen to Nasty C and Rowlene bearing it all in ‘Send Me Away (SMA)’. We are picking this video for the Table Mountain backdrop and of course – the relationship advice (maybe).
Solange Knowles is serving some serious retro high fashion in ‘Losing’ in the heart of the kasi. Motif in the video highlight the ultimate Cape Town township experience. Enjoy!
The pioneers of Afrobeats – twins Peter and Paul – P-Square and king of hip-hop Rick Ross make an impressive collaboration with ‘Beautiful Onyinye’. See love, yachts, champagne and talent come together in the video. Pure romance!
This throwback is from 1997, it sure feels like a lifetime ago. In as much as the video had no physical features of Cape Town, we can confirm that ‘Got Til It’s Gone’ was made right here in the Mother City. It’s the local fashion and culture and history that tugged at our heartstrings and had us drawn to the video.
