Ticket sales for the Open Book Festival, set to take place from 6 September 2024 to 8 September 2024 at the Homecoming Centre of the District Six Museum, are ‘moving along nicely,’ according to the event organisers, Cape {town} Etc reports

‘The festival, known for creating an inclusive space for important conversations, is set to explore a range of themes including mental health, fatherhood, creativity, and the impact of history on the present,’ said a festival press release.

According to the Open Book Festival website, South Africa’s leading authors, many with recently released books, will be featured in multiple panels throughout the festival.
6 September
- Sven Axelrad will engage in a discussion on Chosen Family with Buntu Siwisa and Anna Stroud.
- Anna Stroud will join Shubnum Khan and Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu for the panel Hauntings.
- Sven Axelrad will also be featured in the Bad Women panel.
- Siya Khumalo will participate in Uncontrollable Bodies.
- Pontsho Pilane will host an Open Talk session.
- Ivan Vladislavic will be on the Reading the Streets panel.
7 September
- Sven Axelrad continues with a discussion on Love and Other Toxins, joined by Shubnum Khan and others.
- Anna Stroud and Buntu Siwisa will explore Outsiders.
- Karen Jennings, Alistair Mackay, and Niq Mhlongo will delve into Cities of Trauma.
- David Mann will discuss Authenticity and Representation.
- Nozibele Mayaba and Lesedi Molefi will explore Visibility and Chronic Conditions, with Mayaba also participating in Journeys to Self.
- Lebogang Seale will feature in the The Dispossessed panel.
- Oyama Mabandla will be involved in both Understanding Exile and Trust Issues.
- Pontsho Pilane will join the panel Navigating Religious Trauma.
8 September
- Karen Jennings will participate in Life Is Cheap.
- Margie Orford will be featured in Stories to Save Lives and will also join Barbara Boswell and others for The Personal as Political.
- Barbara Boswell will additionally be on the Feminist Imaginings / Creative Practice panel.
- Busisekile Khumalo and Zukiswa Wanner will discuss Patriarchy and Desire.
- Lebogang Seale and Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu will address Colonialism and Fracture.
- Hedley Twidle will be on Holding the World and will later join Tanya Meeson for Storykeepers. Tanya Meeson will also collaborate with Nick Clelland on Living Dystopian Realities.
