Geniuses have always been a temperamental and odd bunch. For example, Nikola Tesla allegedly married a pigeon, while Ludwig Van Beethoven would pour water over his head to help compose his great symphonies.
A temperamental and creative genius in his own right, Kanye West has certainly run wild with the genius stereotype. West was set to release his 10th studio album titled Donda on Friday, July 23, but characteristically blew off the massive listening event without dropping the record, states News24.
In typical Yeezy fashion, the rapper arrived nearly two hours late for his sold-out session at the Atlanta stadium. There’s nothing worse than having your excitement and anticipation squashed by your favourite artist after you’ve waited hours for them to arrive on stage while having paid between $20-$100 (R200 -R1500) for a ticket. However, fans may have been uber disappointed as West was said to spend the next 48 minutes roaming the stadium floor while performing without a mic, reports Independent.
West’s latest masterpiece is named after his mother, Donda West, who sadly passed away in 2007. As his new material blared on stadium speakers, fans were treated to musical content that continued to dive into the theme of religion and featured a few references to his high-profile split from Kim Kardashian.
The estranged couple shares four kids, who were said to be present at the listening party. Kardashian also joined the unveiling.
As for when regular fans of the rapper may get a sneak listen to his latest album. The artist’s label has stated that eager listeners will have to wait another two weeks before the album officially drops.
