Klawer Wine Cellar is the gateway to the Olifants River Valley and offers a warm and friendly welcome to visitors. They’re situated right beside the N7 National road, and is the perfect pitstop when en route to Cape Town or Namibia.
Klawer Wine Cellar offers a wide variety of wines available for tasting at the tasting room at no cost. They also have cultivars such as Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, among others.
Klawer is well known for dessert wines, such as their top seller – African Ruby Rooibos infused Muscadel. This unique wine attracts the attention of many. It’s easy to do something different, but to add uniqueness to their product by using their surroundings is a job well done. This red muscadel is not only infused with the indigenous plant rooibos, but Klawer Wine Cellar went as far as adding the medicinal pant buchu as well.
Klawer wine cellar is the home of Villa Esposto, an outstanding premium range made from bush vine, perfect for those searching for the full-bodied style wines. The Villa Esposto label is named after the Italian engineer, who built the water canal in 1914, that today is a vital “fountain of life” in an arid wine-growing region like the Olifants river.
The wine cellar uses vineyards, growing in the Graafwater area on the farm called Arbeidseind to make these award-winning wines. This flagship range consists out of 5 different cultivars such as Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Straw wine Hanepoot, as well as a Pinotage Rosé.
“We strive to be as diverse as possible, to offer something for everyone,” Klawer Wine Cellar said. “We sell local products at our tasting room like Rooibos body butters, locally-made fudges and biscuits, a wide variety of jams, locally handcrafted woodwork, and karoo salts. All of these make a pitstop worthwhile adding a special touch to your visit.”
Recently, they added four new wine pairings to choose from. Except for the Rooibos-product and wine pairing, there is a red wine pairing, white wine pairing and a rosé pairing, each with sweet treats to compliment the wine.
“We added a fun kiddies ‘pairing’ with our grape juices as well, so do not hesitate to bring the little ones with. Without a doubt, we can say, that we will give you a wine experience like no other,” Klawer Wine Cellar said.
Wine pairings contain a small fee.
