The event has been organised by Rare Cassette, a shiny new music experience consisting of Cape Town’s finest musicians, music producers and DJs. The company aspires to treat its target market with some beloved South African music groups that no longer predominantly perform in South Africa.
The line-up consists of the bands Honeymoan and Internet Girl, followed by three DJ sets jockeyed by PHFAT, Dirty Disco Records and After Hours. If anything, your ticket guarantee’s you a night of dancing.
One of the headlining acts, Honeymoan, is an alternative pop band that started in 2017 as a “just for fun” project. Made up of Josh Berry (bass), Alison Rachel (vocals) and Skye MacInnes (guitar), Honeymoan has received international acclaim and continues to explore genre and style with each release. The band hails from Cape Town however most of its members now live in the UK. The event offers a rare opportunity to watch them perform as a whole unit in South Africa.
The new venue is situated in Cape Town’s industrial district Paarden Eiland. Named The Factory, the venue’s namesake is attributed to the fact that by day the location remains an operating factory space. Fear not, all machine and factory cacophony will be replaced by the pleasing sounds of live music.
The event will take place on Friday, 14 October, and it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
