One thing about Nando’s is that they are the prestige of all ‘roasters’.
Nando’s isn’t just food, they’re an institution. Their public relations team almost always understands the assignment, and they are the definition of saying what they feel without sugar coating. Their banter-esque attitude is what makes the brand so lovable, and it’s a nod to their marketing too. When you eat Nando’s, you feel like you’ve accumulated their level of spice, and that anyone who tests you will fall short.
Recently, in a comedic social media telling, one man decided that he was funny and made his first move against the Peri-Peri kingdom. Nando’s, not one to resist banter with an added touch of fire flames, returned the roast, as South Africans knew they would. The story showed South Africans that we can almost always back Nando’s to give us a laugh and a reaction of “hectic.”
Essentially, the Twitter ‘comedian’ was commenting on the makeover some people get when eating Nando’s rolls, due to the excess flour. But Nando’s defended their brand like millennials defend avocado on toast, so their comeback was scathing.
As one user commented after @ItsTheReal_Bizz fired his shots, “You were warned, Nando’s came for you.” @Phila7696

“Data ere Tsho! Halfway through a make-up tutorial, then you wanna blame our rolls? Wa re phaphela” they said.
In English, this means, “Your data has finished halfway through a make-up tutorial now you’re trying to blame our rolls? Do not test us.”
A nod to knowing Nando’s status in the roasting game

Nando’s is like the big brother that will back you in a fight, and South Africans love to see that in any opportunity to offer comedic relief, Nando’s comes to the rescue. If anything, their branding is so well-versed in their cheek that it’s always refreshing to see what they’ll come up with next.
