Unleash your creativity
It returns to the V&A Waterfront for the first time since 2012. That year, 220 000 spectators packed the quay to witness Team Bulls Eye glide 17.09 metres to victory with spectacular flair and originality.
This edition promises the same blend of community spirit, invention and pure fun.

Patrick Davidson, South African aerobatic pilot and Red Bull athlete, captures the mood succinctly. He says aviation meets artistry and gentle chaos at Flugtag. It gives everyday people the chance to chase the impossible and entertain the crowd.
As he puts it, ‘if it looks good, it flies good.’ We will find out if that holds true on the day.
Forty teams will compete and be judged on three criteria:
- originality of their craft
- inventiveness of their pre‑flight skit
- distance they manage to glide
Prizes
Prizes include exclusive Red Bull experiences and meet‑and‑greets with top athletes. A panel of local personalities and aviation experts will oversee the judging process and will be announced soon.
Flugtag has thrilled more than nine million spectators in over 50 countries! Each event births its own legends, from Greased Lightning in Portland to the 2023 champions Flite Test in Cincinnati.
The world record remains 78.6 metres, set by The Chicken Whisperers in Long Beach, California, in 2013.
Join in and build the next masterpiece, aim for splashdown glory or cheer from the shore. Red Bull Flugtag Cape Town 2025 will be an experience to remember.
