Cape Town’s vibrant artistry and creative prowess will take centre stage as Spotify celebrates the city’s influence on African music and culture with the highly anticipated Mother of Music (MOM) event, Cape {town} Etc reports.

According to The Citizen, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu, says that Cape Town is the perfect stage for the event.
‘This event honours the city’s extraordinary contribution to local and global music sub-scenes and fuels the creative spirit of its upcoming artists.’
Scheduled from 5 to 8 September 2024, the event will attract music lovers and creative enthusiasts to immerse themselves in vibrant sounds, captivating art and iconic streetwear, embodying Cape Town’s rich cultural tapestry.
‘Through MOM, we aim to celebrate the past, present, and future of Cape Town’s music culture,’ said Okumu.
The event will include a playlist launch party, a high-energy rave, a street celebration and an after-party.
All these will culminate in a finale event in Khayelitsha, among other thrilling attractions.
Renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and rich historical significance as the Mother City, Cape Town is also a thriving hub that has produced globally acclaimed music artists.
In honour of the MOM event, Spotify has unveiled a dedicated playlist featuring a curated selection of tracks that celebrate the diverse and vibrant sounds of Cape Town.
The event is free and open to all music and culture enthusiasts.
