Since the infamous happenings at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday, almost everyone has had an opinion on it, seen a meme about it or even heard songs featuring Smith’s rebuttal as a sample.
In light of opinions, some people understood Smith’s heated take – that of a man in a position whereby he sees his wife’s struggle with Alopecia, and hears someone making jokes at her expense. Nicki Minaj for one famously expressed:
“You just got to witness in real time what happens in a man’s soul when he looks over to the woman he loves & sees her holding back tears from a “little joke” at her expense. This is what any & every real man feels in that instant. while y’all seeing the joke he’s seeing her pain,” Minaj wrote on Twitter.

However, as for the two people whose take pop-culture enthusiasts have awaited (Jada Pinkett Smith and Chris Rock), things have seen static silence until now, on Rock’s part.
For the first time since the event, Rock has publically alluded to the Oscar of all Oscar moments – and did so in a way that hushed all those the hopes of those who thought he would make a lengthy comment or a series of jokes about it.
According to Daily Mail, Rock appeared at his sold-out comedy show at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston on Wednesday night. In his comedic fashion, he asked his 3000 fans in the audience how their weekends went. “Soooooo how was everyone’s weekend?” he started.
With tears bubbling in his eyes according to the report, Rock said:
“Let me be all misty and s***…I don’t have a bunch of s*** to say about that, so if you came here for that…” he said before pausing.
“I had written a whole show before this weekend,” he added before expressing that he is still processing what happened, and at some point, he’ll talk about it.
“It’ll be serious. It’ll be funny, but right now I’m going to tell some jokes,” he concluded, allowing the show to go on.
Jada has not said anything directly public to date, apart from what could be an allusion to the situation in the form of an Instagram post that reads:
“This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.”
