Upon entering the bustling inner city and the heart of First Thursdays’ cultural happenings, you can ease yourself into the night on Loop Street, where artworks and community engagement meet.
This home of contemporary art provides an intimate space in which participation is encouraged to foster a deeper understanding between artist and audience through the beauty of artistic talent and creative expression.
GalleryOne11 aims to showcase upcoming artists with the intention of expanding their repertoire and developing their audience.
The exhibition ‘Advent of the Emergent’, in collaboration with The Exhibit Co serves as a portal into the ways in which young artists are using their work as a medium to challenge socio-economic and socio-political issues in today’s world.

Secure the goods at the PUMA Select store
Fill your pockets and make your way to the much-loved monthly Select Session at the new PUMA Select concept store as they kickstart this month’s First Thursdays with an evening of mixing fashion, music and pop culture.
Located at the corner of Loop and Waterkant streets, you can expect exclusive access to limited edition product releases, as well as another collaboration with rising and established local DJs and artists to set the perfect mood for the night.

Discover design’s past and future at the Cape Institute for Architecture
One of the oldest architectural practices in the design world with 110 years under its belt, KMH has completed over 3000 buildings across South Africa, receiving numerous awards for its excellence.
This First Thursday, the institute will once again open its studio to the public with another exhibition showcasing its world-class architecture designs and sense of urbanism, from both industry and academia.
This month, the retrospective exhibition ‘PRACTICE: 110 Years of Making Buildings by KMH Architects’ will celebrate designs spanning over a century of work that honours the past while anticipating future architectural practices through recently completed works.
There will also be a public talk hosted around the exhibition at the CIFA gallery.

Tantalize your taste buds at Tjing Tjing House
Tjing Tjing House covers three storeys to fulfil your every desire. From Japanese street food and desserts typically found in Yokocho downstairs at Tjing Tjing Torii to a selection of bespoke cocktails and sake, as well as some electro-indie beats upstairs at the Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar.

Get your groove on at The Station on Bree
Spending part of the night at The Station on Bree has become somewhat of an unofficial First Thursdays tradition. Recently renovated, The Station on Bree has created a unique and trendy space to cater for a perfect night filled with good food, great music and all-round lekker vibes. Book for dinner and stay for the party.
While there won’t be a street market this month, the night is sure to be pumping nonetheless courtesy of the DJ lineup kicking off with ABFAB from 7pm, KWG from 9pm, DJ Daimz from 10:30pm, Frank Osorio from 11:30pm and DJ Daimz returning once more at 1am to carry the party through until closing time.
