Goodman Gallery:
This woman-empowering gallery is situated on Somerset Road, at the Waterkant. Goodman Gallery has been an important part of shaping contemporary South African art and has elevated some of the important artists today such as the world-renowned Sam Nhlengethwa, and Sue Williams.
Opening hours:
- Tuesday to Friday 9h00 to 17h00
- Saturday 9h00 to 16h00
Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa:
Largest of its kind globally, the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is located at the V&A Waterfront. It is also a not-for-profit institution that aims to collect, research and preserve contemporary art from the African Diaspora.
You will experience some of the curated and themed art from different genres such as black history, consumerism, African spirituality, sexuality, climate change, and violence to name a few.

- Tuesday to Sunday 10h00 to 18h00
- With the last entry at 17h30
Stevenson Gallery:
With a wide range of participation in international festivals such as Art Basel Miami, and Paris Photo among others. The Stevenson Gallery prides itself on being a leader in showcasing and helping artists showcase African art globally. Steveson often hosts a series of solo and group exhibitions whose focus is to place two-way dialogue with South Africa and the world.

WhatIftheWorld Gallery:

Founded in 2008, WhatIftheWorld is a contemporary art gallery both within South Africa and internationally.
Their name anticipates the gallery’s program which means a host of ambitious projects that promote curiosity and thought.
They rely on a strong focus on Africa to represent influential artists who engage with global and local contemporary art. WhatiftheWorld has artist panels where art lovers can engage with their favourite artists behind the inspiration for their work.

This gallery is perfect if you are looking for a vibrant gallery that is set on including urban and pop art. They are the future representative of visual communication when it comes to some of the youngest artists in South Africa and abroad.

First Thursdays
First Thursdays are the perfect platform if you want to explore more art and learn about other galleries in Cape Town. This happens every first Thursday of the month and you get to experience the arts and culture of Cape Town.
It is completely free and with no structured tour but you navigate into what you like. You can start off from Loop street and end on Long street.
