Design Indaba’s Emerging Creatives Class of 2023 has just been announced, and you need to know the names of these young South African creatives.
The class, aimed to equip participants with skills and knowledge to produce and promote their work, had more than 340 applicants. Only twenty were picked for the programme.
The Design Indaba Emerging Creatives platform has been running successfully for 18 years now, having played a part in the careers of many established South African creatives, including fashion designer Thebe Magugu, jewellery designer Katherine-Mary Pichulik and designer and illustrator Daniel Ting Chong.
Neo ‘Nene’ Mahlangu, also a former Design Indaba Emerging Creative, is the curator behind this year’s programme.
“It’s an honour to be part of this encouraging process, and it has reinvigorated my own inspiration,” says the artist and entrepreneur.
“I’m thrilled to see the calibre of Emerging Creative talent shining in this year’s selection. It’s clear that the future of creativity in our country is in capable hands.”
