Vans and MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) are giving us the second chapter of an artist-designed collection – and it’s gorgeous.
The sole of art idea features items designed by Californian based artists Dr Judy Baca (the artist behind the Great Wall of Los Angeles), Brenna Youngblood (the abstract guru), and Frances Stark (the punk subculture creative).
The collection is limited, stunning and speaks to celebrating a culture that the world has been fascinated by for years – that of California.
Taking the artists respective specialities, fascinations and perspective, the collection sees a contribution of Baca’s mural inspiration (which she was commissioned to do in the 1984 Olympics and manifested into Hitting the Wall, Women in the Marathon) Youngblood’s abstract flare of bespoke colours, and Stark’s punk chic.
While it may not be Zeits MOCCA (but we would love to see that collaboration) it’s still butterfly-in-the-tummy inducing for those obsessed with art and sneakerheads.
